on July 17, 1998. This organization is operating under section 501 (c)(3)
of the Internal Revenue Code.AWASC consists of several board members.
The sole purpose of this association is to work as a non-profit, non-political
entity providing social and cultural services to the Afghan community
residing in Southern California.
The intention
of this association is to facilitate information and educational tools
for multicultural community activities and to serve as a bridge between
Afghan and other ethnic groups within the structure of American society.
AWASC promotes social relations among the Afghan seniors by designing
specific programs to meet their needs and interests and by furnishing
them with information to help them within the American society. With
the objective of strengthening the relationship between parents and
their children, this association will help to provide tools and ways
that will familiarize the younger afghan generation with their culture
and historical background.
AWASC provides
humanitarian assistance to victims of war in Afghanistan and highly
promotes education by providing educational tools to the Afghan children.
AWASC will take a stand against human rights violations, particularly
womens rights in Afghanistan by issuing statements and establishing
contact with respective authorities.
